ABOUT ABOUT

Please note: Timed tickets are not required to visit the museum but can be purchased for your convenience. You are welcome to buy tickets in person. Please note, last entry is 2:45pm and we recommend 30-45 minutes to see the entire museum.

Self-guide Dumbarton House's stunning period rooms and exhibition spaces using descriptive panels in each room or a detailed tour on the Vamonde app! www.vamonde.com/adventure/dumbarton-house-tour/1676/

The first floor of Dumbarton House is designed to look similar to how it would have looked in 1804, when Joseph Nourse, the first Register of the Treasury, lived here with his wife Maria and about 10 indentured, free, and enslaved workers.

The second floor of Dumbarton House contains rotating exhibitions about topics like how DC was chosen as the capital of the United States, drinking, dancing, and education in the Federal Period, and historic house museum preservation.

For your safety:

  • Face coverings are required at this time for staff and visitors in indoor spaces
  • Please maintain a social distance of 3’ or more from other parties
  • Bring a water bottle and snack: we have a water bottle-filling station on site but no food services
  • Hand sanitizer is available
  • Increased sanitization schedule for all public areas and surfaces
  • All docent-led tours have been suspended

We ask any visitors who feel unwell, have a fever or other symptoms to please stay home. We will be happy to refund your visit or honor your ticket for a future date. We only issue refunds in the case of illness.
