Homeschool History Days at Dumbarton House 2018-2019
Introduce students to our nation's past! Through hands-on programming at Dumbarton House, homeschool students ages 5-12 are invited to "travel back in time" 200 years and explore the early history of Washington D.C. Each program includes an interactive tour of the museum, snack, and an activity. Cost: $7 per student, $3 per adult.
9/20 School & Fun: What would your school and social life been like if you lived during the Federal Period? Students will learn about their homeschool routine 200 years ago, as well as what they would have done for fun outside of their lessons.
10/25 Harvest Time: Would you eat oyster flavored ice cream? Could you make cookies with a recipe that has no exact measurements? Using primary sources and observation, students will learn how food was made and consumed at Dumbarton House.
11/29 Winter Warmth: Students will compare and contrast their experience of winter and Christmas with that of the Nourse family.
1/31 Hands of Time: Welcome in the New Year and think about the passage of time at Dumbarton House.
