A $5 donation per person is suggested for the class. Please give donations directly to the instructor for in-person classes. Ticketleap reservation donations will go to your instructor as well. Reservations are not required but are encouraged. Donations to Dumbarton House for providing space are welcomed, donate online or in the museum after the class.

About our instructors

Alia Peera's desire to share yoga with others grew out of her own journey for empowerment and self-care. Her love of yoga deepened after she returned to D.C. from a stressful job as special education teacher in one of the most under-resourced schools in the South Louisiana. Yoga helped Alia find the balance both on and off the mat to restore and give more her students, family and friends. Passionate about helping others cultivate their inner balance through yoga and mindfulness, Alia is now based out of California. She is certified in Vinyasa Flow/Power Yoga, and has also earned certificates in Yoga Philosophy for Kids Grades K-12. Her style is energetic, friendly, and focused on mindfulness and breath. Alia is energized by empowering others to reach their full potential. In her classes, you can expect to feel cared for yet challenged. @Path2Be  www.aliapeera.com

Alston Taggart is a North Carolinian expat, who has been living in DC since 1994. With degrees in fine and graphic arts, Alston has always been a student of the amazing and beautiful world we live in and of its infinite possibility. For more than a decade, she has brought that wonder and joy to the study and teaching of yoga. She draws from a variety of schools of ancient and modern yoga to create a fusion of heart, mind, and body.
Alston finds yoga the perfect means to balance and align her current worlds of graphic design and motherhood — helping herself and others in her classes — to find stillness, strength, and calm amidst the crazy of our modern times.

JoAnn Hill is an enthusiastic yoga and barre instructor who loves to inspire others to commit to long-term fitness and wellness goals. She initially began practicing yoga to compliment her active lifestyle, and soon fell in love with the empowerment, serenity, and grounding it brought to her life. Energetic and motivated, JoAnn is passionate about guiding others in creating balance on and off the mat.  Soon after becoming a yoga instructor, JoAnn also pursued her passion for barre, an elegant, but challenging series of ballet-barre and Pilates postures designed to help sculpt, tone, stretch, and strengthen. She works hard to create an environment that helps her students push past their obstacles and reach their fitness goals.

Originally from Pennsylvania, JoAnn has lived in the DC area for over nineteen years with her wonderful husband and pizza-loving dog, Jackson. Outside of the studio, she is the co-founder of Capitol Teachers, a full-service tutoring organization.  JoAnn is the author of the book Secret Washington, DC: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure. She is an avid traveler and foodie and writes about her global adventures and love for food on her blog dcglobejotters.org. JoAnn enjoys spending her time cooking plant-based recipes, exercising, paddle boarding, cycling, skiing, and reading.

Sara Curtin has been teaching yoga in DC for 9 years. Sara began practicing in order to explore the ever-growing relationship between mind and body. As a professional singer, musician, and mom of twins, she is always looking for ways to strengthen and relax. In her class, you'll build strength, increase flexibility and have fun!
